Rules and send windows

Cart Recovery Updated 23 August 2026

A recovery email to the wrong person, or at the wrong hour, costs more than it earns. Settings → Rules decides who not to email and when not to send.

Who not to email

  • Recent customers — skip anyone who placed an order in the last N days. Someone who just bought from you and left a second cart is browsing, not abandoning.
  • Minimum cart value — don’t chase carts below a threshold.
  • Excluded products and categories — a cart containing any listed product ID, or a product in a listed category, is never emailed. Useful for gift cards, deposits, or anything you’d rather not nudge.
  • Unsubscribed addresses — always skipped. This one isn’t a setting.

Rules are applied at the moment a cart becomes abandoned. A cart that fails a rule is parked as Ignored and the Carts screen shows the reason under its status, so you can always see why something wasn’t sent.

Send window (quiet hours)

Step delays are offsets from abandonment, so a cart abandoned at 11pm with a 3-hour delay would be emailed at 2am — which reads as spam and sinks to the bottom of the inbox. Switch on Only send between and set a window in your store’s timezone. Any step that would fall outside it is held until the window next opens. Windows may cross midnight (20:00 → 02:00 is valid).

Manual sends from the Carts screen ignore the window on purpose — you asked for it now.
