What is Chada Backup?

Chada Backup Updated 23 August 2026

Chada Backup is a backup and disaster-recovery plugin for WordPress. It takes chunked, resumable full-site backups — database, plugins, themes, uploads, WordPress core and anything else in wp-content — verifies every archive against a checksummed manifest, ships copies to remote storage, and restores in one click with a safety snapshot so even a restore can be undone.

How it’s different

  • Resumable by design. Every job runs in short, time-boxed steps and checkpoints its progress, so a backup that is interrupted — by a timeout, a closed tab or a host killing the request — carries on from where it stopped instead of starting over.
  • Verified, not assumed. Each backup set is a manifest plus one or more archives. The manifest records a SHA-256 checksum for every file, and a set is only shown as Verified when those checksums match.
  • Restore with a seatbelt. Before a restore touches anything, Chada Backup snapshots the current database. An Undo restore action reverts to that snapshot for 24 hours afterwards.
  • Off-site first. Local storage works out of the box, but the plugin keeps reminding you of the rule that matters: a backup on the same server isn’t a backup. Send copies to any S3-compatible service or Google Drive.

Free and Premium

Chada Backup is one plugin with a free tier and a Premium licence. Everything you need to be protected and to recover is free; Premium adds convenience and scale.

Free Premium
Manual backups (all components) Everything in Free, plus:
One scheduled backup Multiple schedules, including split cadence (database nightly, files weekly)
One remote destination (S3-compatible or Google Drive) plus unlimited local destinations Multiple simultaneous remote destinations
Full and partial restore, safety snapshot and undo Automatic recovery points before WordPress core, plugin and theme updates
Import a backup set from another site and restore it URL and table-prefix rewrite on cross-site restore (manual migration)
Failure email alerts Success emails and webhook notifications
WP-CLI commands Multisite network support

Premium-only features are visible in the interface in a locked state so you can see what they do, but they never block a free workflow — and disaster recovery (restore and import) is never gated.

Where it lives

After activation you’ll find a top-level Chada Backup menu in wp-admin with five areas: Dashboard (protection status and backup history), Schedules, Destinations, Settings and License. On a multisite network the plugin is network-activated and the app appears under Network Admin only.

Backups are stored in a randomly named, access-protected folder inside wp-content/uploads (it has its own .htaccess deny rule and index file), so they are never reachable from a public URL.
