Installing Chada Backup
Chada Backup is distributed through the CHADA marketplace, not the WordPress.org directory. Install it by uploading the plugin ZIP; updates then arrive through the normal WordPress Updates screen.
Requirements
- WordPress 6.4 or newer
- PHP 8.1 or newer
- Enough free disk space in
wp-content/uploadsto hold at least one full backup set (the plugin keeps a safety reserve for the site itself and will refuse to fill the disk)
Install the plugin
- Download
chada-backup.zipfrom your My Account → Licenses page (or from the product page for the free version). - In your WordPress dashboard, go to Plugins → Add New Plugin and click Upload Plugin.
- Choose
chada-backup.zip, click Install Now, then Activate Plugin.
First run
Open Chada Backup in the admin menu. The Dashboard opens in its first-run state with two suggestions: create your first backup, and add a remote destination. You can back up immediately — local storage is ready without any configuration — but we recommend adding a remote destination before you rely on the plugin.
Multisite
On a WordPress multisite network, network-activate the plugin. Multisite support is a Premium feature: the Dashboard, backups, schedules and restores are managed from Network Admin → Chada Backup and scoped to the whole network or to the sites you select. Subsite admins do not get a Chada Backup menu. Without a Premium licence, a network-activated install shows a “Multisite is a Premium feature” screen until a licence is activated.
Updates
Chada Backup checks shop.chadacreatives.com for new versions. Updates appear in Dashboard → Updates like any other plugin. Free installs receive updates without a key; Premium installs need an active licence to keep receiving them (see Activating Premium).
